Israeli-Iranian Musical Initiative
(I=I)

Since 2015 Lemish has been serving as co-director of the Israeli-Iranian Musical Initiative (I=I). Established in 2013, I=I is a multiple grant-winning collective of Israeli and Iranian performers and composers advancing intellectual and cultural dialogue between individuals and communities through artistic creations, amidst formal national hostilities. I=I has presented concerts at some of Toronto’s most prestigious festivals and concert halls including the Ashkenaz festival, the Aga Khan Museum, Alliance Francaise Theater and The Music Gallery. 

In addition to concerts, I=I co-directors Lemish, Parisa Sabet and Dan Deutsch have also participated in several panels and presentations and joined Peter Lemish in contributing a book chapter to the following 2017 publication: “’In Toronto Iranians and Israelis make music, not war’: Political Communication via Engaged Musicking”.
